National Yoga Month

September is National Yoga month. Let’s talk about What is yoga? How does it benefit me? And where to get started?

What is yoga?

According to the dictionary, the definition of yoga is a Hindu spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation. This might be the dictionary definition of yoga but everyone has their own definition of what yoga means to them. There is no one size fits all for yoga. Making your yoga practice work for you is the just one of the many powers of yoga.

How does it benefit me?

Some people enjoy yoga for the physical benefits, while others enjoy yoga for the spiritual benefits. It is a workout for your body but is also a workout for your mind and spirit. Here are some benefits of yoga according to Yoga Journal.
