Whole Fabric: Explore a Connected World through the Experience of Weaving

Saturday, September 21

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Fee: $105 (includes lunch); $20 materials fee collected at the door

In this guided reflective workshop you will learn to weave a Swedish band.  As you learn how to weave the fabric you will be invited to reflect on the lessons that weaving has to teach you about how to “weave” a life that feels whole and connected:

  • Identify your 8 personal focuses
  • Witness how everything will get done in its own time
  • Understand how these 8 focuses contribute to creating a whole fabric/life
  • Witness how everything is connected
  • Feel the support of the world weaving with and around you

Opportunities for journaling and conversation will be woven throughout the workshop.

"Suzanne’s Life-Weaving class is a meditation on balance and wholeness.  The time spent attending to my eight life strands and weaving them together provided much-needed insight, restoration, and inspiration.  Suzanne provides a safe space and wise words that encourage this introspective work." – Jenna Buffington

Suzanne Hubbard learned the art of weaving in Nantucket and Sweden, and has shown her tapestries in galleries and museums. Over decades of weaving she has developed a deeper appreciation for the craft.. Weaving’s patterning process resembles a life-patterning process. Therefore, in addition to its visual aspects, it also creates a non-verbal language that graphically expresses Nature’s world of interdependent relationships. She is influenced both by her parents’, Barbara Marx Hubbard & Earl Hubbard, work in Conscious Evolution  and their focus on whole-oriented choices as well as the world of Nature lying right outside her front door.  Pattern, structure, and texture remain the primary elements in her work––and each tapestry expresses an important theme when seen from the integrated perspective of the whole cloth. She writes, teaches, and weaves at home on Vashon Island.
